Brief Profile of Mr. Sujan Debnath
Mr. Sujan Debnath is the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Birmingham, United Kingdom. A career diplomat and an officer of the 28th BCS (Foreign Affairs) cadre, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2010. Mr. Debnath holds Master’s degrees in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Australian National University, an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the University of Dhaka, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
Prior to assuming his responsibilities as Assistant High Commissioner in Birmingham, he served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka and in Bangladesh Missions abroad. At the Ministry, he held positions including Director (West Europe & European Union Wing), Director (East Europe & CIS Wing), Director (Myanmar Wing), Senior Assistant Secretary (South-East Asia), and Assistant Secretary (South-East Asia). Additionally, he served as a diplomat in various roles at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Athens, Greece, and also in Thimphu, Bhutan.
Mr. Sujan Debnath is also an author who enjoys writing in his leisure time. His published works include the historical novel Hemlock-er Nimontron (Taste of Hemlock), the short story collection Kirtinasha, and the poetry anthologies Homer Sagore Himalaya (Himalayas in the Homeric Sea) and Monkharaper Uthon (The Courtyard of Melancholy).
He is married and is the father of two children.
