Power of Attorney


Applicants living in the MIDLANDS & SOUTH WALES should book an appointment for the "Power of Attorney" to be done at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Birmingham. Applicants from other areas may apply to their closest High Commission (for example LONDON & MANCHESTER).

Midlands: Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, West Midlands, Leicestershire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Hereford and Worchester, Salop, Gloucestershire. 

South Wales: Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Powys, Mid Glamorgan, South Glamorgan, Dyfed, Gwent. 


Requirements:(Please bring one set of photocopies of all documents)

  • 2(two) sets of unsigned Power of Attorney (PoA) documents. Any PoA document must be prepared as per the government's prescribed format. CLICK HERE for Bangla or CLICK HERE for the English sample of the format.

  • Two original passport-size photographs (29mm x 45mm) of each person party to the PoA document (colour photographs against a white background) should be pasted on the specified areas. 

  • Photocopy of the Porcha. 

  • Proof of address in the UK (applicable for power givers/grantors)

  • Photocopy of the Succession certificate (Warishnama) / Certificate of Inheritance (if the grantors are successors of the property)

  • VALID BANGLADESH PASSPORT for all power givers/grantors or receivers living in the United Kingdom. (Original along with photocopy)

  • Copy of NID (National identification)card for all power receivers who live in Bangladesh.

  • Processing fee (non-refundable): £40 (for each 2 sets; debit card or postal order payments are accepted only).


Please note: All power givers/grantors must sign in front of the assigned official of the Mission. Both sets of the document for each PoA must be attested by MOFA, Dhaka within 2 months from the date of signing at the Assistant High Commission.


Please provide a prepaid, self-addressed special delivery envelope suitable to enclose the PoA documents without folding, if you want to receive your documents by post.


Power of Attorney must be processed in accordance with the laid down rules stated in ‘The Power of Attorney Act-2015’ of the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh for the NRBs (Non-resident Bangladeshis). *Additional documents may be required. Mission reserves the right to seek supplements as and when required.

*Both the original and one copy of the application along with all supporting documents are to be submitted. After verification, originals will be returned and copies shall be kept in the mission for future records.
